Volunteer Coordinator
Gifts of Music NW aims to enhance confidence and joy through music education. We teach music to those who wouldn’t normally have access, including at-risk youth and the elderly in Whatcom County. We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer coordinator to recruit, train, and evaluate our volunteers.

Commitment:

5-7 hours per month

Quarterly 60-minute team meeting

Recruiting

Caring and relationship-oriented volunteer teachers

Skillful marketing and community relations volunteers
Training

Volunteer agreements, confidentiality

Ensure effective communication between volunteers and people they serve

Monitor care of music equipment and teaching space

Community Advancement Team Member

We are looking for a community advancement team member who will support the sustainability of music education programs by strengthening community relationships and fundraising capacity.

Help draft 3–4 donor communications per year

Assist with impact storytelling from program notes

Support email campaigns

Offer website suggestions

Identify and reach out to 10–15 local businesses annually

Help secure $1,500–$3,000 in sponsorship support

Finance Committee Member
Gifts of Music NW aims to enhance confidence and joy through music education. We teach music to those who wouldn’t normally have access, including at-risk youth and the elderly in Whatcom County. In 2025 we brought music to over sixty teens in the Whatcom Juvenile Detention Center. We are looking for an enthusiastic finance committee member to help us with our financial oversight and stability.

Core Responsibilities and Duties
Budgeting and Financial Planning: Developing the annual budget with staff and ensuring the budget aligns with the strategic plan.
Financial Oversight and Reporting: Monitoring quarterly financial statements, tracking variances between budgeted and actual revenue/expenses, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Compliance and Audit: Ensuring compliance with tax filing requirements (e.g., IRS Form 990) and overseeing the annual audit process if a separate audit committee does not exist.
Cash Flow and Reserve Management: Ensuring sufficient cash flow for operations and establishing/monitoring reserve funds for financial stability.
Board Reporting: Translating financial data into actionable insights for the full board to support decision-making
