Overview

This class is intended for people with some guitar experience, from those who know a few chords to those who consider themselves intermediate players. The curriculum includes the foundations of fingerstyle guitar for popular songs, such as fingerstyle patterns, open tunings, Travis picking, and much more. This class will give you the tools to play beautiful fingerstyle pieces or to write some of your own.

 

Classes will include:

• Foundations of fingerstyle, hand positioning

• Folk and blues fingerstyle patterns

• Beautiful romantic patterns

• Chord embellishments or tricks

• Popular songs in various styles from James Taylor to Doc Watson

• Fingerstyle with rich major 7 chords and suspended chords

• Open tunings

• Travis picking

• Percussive guitar

I have been playing guitar for twenty-five years and teaching for eight. My preferred style of guitar is fingerstyle, and I am inspired by artists such as James Taylor, Paul Simon, Don Ross, Doc Watson and Andy McKee.
