Lessons Breakdown

I am passionate about helping students discover their creative flow by exploring guitar and piano. I believe finding one's flow is a powerful way to find inner peace and focus.

I achieve this by teaching some fundamentals of music (such as pentatonic scales) and then playing rhythm guitar or piano and letting the student explore their instrument.

"Flowstate" is actually a state of mind that balances ease and challenge. It's a state of mind where someone is totally engaged in the activity. Getting into a flow state is a great way to reduce stress and increase focus.

I work well with students who have anxiety about learning an instrument and performing. I get it, because I’ve been there. Its important to me to keep things fun for you!

For more intermediate players  I offer the stuff you’d see in a traditional guitar or piano lesson.

  1. Assessment of student goals and skills. Pick a few songs to learn and to use as a platform for learning fundamentals of music

  2. Foundations in harmony, dissonance and consonance. Ear training.

  3. Major scales in common keys, to start.

  4. Intervals that make up scales

  5. Move from seeing shapes to naming notes and seeing shapes.

  6. Pentatonic scales, arpeggios, blues scales

  7. Technique: fast picking, chord switching, fast soloing.

  8. Picking up songs quickly

  9. Basics of Songwriting

I teach both online and
in-person lessons.
